Elizabeth Palomares

Photomares-- a clever blend of my last name "Palomares" and the word "photo". Get it? Photo-mares. (pronounced foto-mar-ez). Haha. I like a good pun.

To tell you a bit on how I got started: I "stole" my dad's work camera when I was 16 to take a friend's engagement photos... but I never gave it back. (Don't worry, my dad admits that he gave that camera to me). Fast forward over 10 years of learning and growing in my work. I have studied light, composition, color theory, layering within the frame of photography. I have taken many online classes and gone to photography workshops that have pushed me to grow as an artist. I am constantly seeking to improve. I also upgraded my gear since I was 16-- I now shoot on a Canon R6 Mark ii and typically use my 35mm and 24-70mm lenses.

I am based in Sioux City, Iowa, but have traveled to Utah, Texas, Colorado, Maryland, California, and many other locations to photograph beautiful places and people.

Above is a favorite raw self portrait with my sweet girl (you'll see a lot in my work). She has taught me to live in the moment and always be on my toes! I now have 3 kids (2 girls and a boy!) and we spend every day together-- they have taught me to enjoy the mess of life. I apply this thinking when I am photographing clients; my goal is tell your story through the beautiful, real, and raw moments.
